my designer is craig ward. these are some images from him:
i find his style very fascinating and i believe even similar to mine in certain ways. he obviously takes a 'hands-on' approach when appropriate and i love to do the same.
more importantly, i think the title of his personal website says it all: words are pictures. that is what i have been drawing the most inspiration from for this project.
i definitely get my best ideas in the shower.
pondering this assignment in the morning today, i was considering the phrase 'words are pictures' and kept approaching the last image of his i posted (fire letters).
the typeface i designed was based on the theme 'honky tonk' and my alphabet looks like these letters:
(the actual alphabet is not completely finished and therefore not ready for you judgers.)
so, here is my shower idea:

honky tonk song lyrics

pure magic.
what say you?
i am debating- should i reuse the song lyrics i originally picked (since we are not redoing those first posters...) or pick lyrics that go well with the first?
and is that a good idea or does it suck?
Wow...great idea. You're work always turns out great because you take the hands-on approach.
ReplyDeleteSo what I'm getting out of this is that you will be burning your typeface into wood. Brilliant! This made me think of branding...like literal burn branding...you know, on a cow :) What's more Honky-Tonk than that?
I'd love to see the design layout of the type. Would you use a similar layout like unto your first poster?
The hand-made feel would also mimics the style of Craig Ward. Plus, you have amazing photography skills so no worries about transferring this to a printed version.
